Lainey
My name is Lainey and my adopted parents
call me "Their Boss" but you and I know that at one time: My name was
different while I ran free in the streets of Dayton, TN. I was
once a Southern Belle and my Beau was a Dalmatian by the name of Marco.
We were abandoned and roamed the neighborhoods for food and shelter
until, by some Miracle, we were salvaged thanks to Linda and SOS
Beagles. Nowadays, I live the life of a Princess in Kensington, MD
and why not? I'm very friendly, I smile and give often and gracefully:
My Paw. I know humans love that! It works well and
therefore, my family let me share their "Ole TV Sofa!" -Lainey (adopted by V. Pescov, March 2004)

Buddy
Buddy was adopted from SOS in January
1996. He is the "bestest beagle boy ever!" That's what I always
tell him. He's got personality plus! He is sweet and affectionate yet
playful and extremely goofy! When we brought him home, he was probably
about 2 or 3 years old and he had a lot of brown coloring, but now his
face is all white, which, as my friend put it, reminds her of a well
loved and worn out stuffed animal. Buddy is always in trouble with his
silly antics. Whether it's hiding my slippers or getting his fat
butt stuck under the bed trying to get a toy, or walking into an empty
20 pound bag of dog food and not being able to find his way out of it,
he is always entertaining. Buddy and Penny together are hilarious!

Speckles
My name is Speckles and I'm a pretty
blue-ticked SOS beagle. Around the very late Fall of 1999, I was
less than 2 yrs old and trying to go across the road when I was hit by
a car. My previous owners no longer wanted me as their pet.
I'm very grateful, above all, to Linda and SOS Beagles, the great care
I received from the vets and my present Loving Family who rescued me at
once. Michele and Brian who adopted me in January 2000. I
walk with a slight limp but run faster than a Fox! - Speckles (adopted
by Brian and Michele, Jan. 2000)

Tucker
Tucker came to us in the spring of 1995. He
was less than 6 months old and when we got him he suffered from terrible
separation anxiety. I think he cried the entire first week we had
him but his sister Poky did her best to keep him company and eventually,
our little guy began to shine! Each day with him has been an adventure
to say the least. Tucker was dx'd with kidney disease almost 2
years ago and we consider ourselves very lucky to have him. He
thinks he's the king of the household. We've since added Penny (a BREW lab
research beagle) and Cody (also a research beagle you folks may remember
as "Jaws") to our home and we feel blessed to have such wonderful life
companions! We are just thrilled to have adopted
him and thank SOS for bringing this little guy into our lives. -adopted

Pluto
Pluto was adopted from SOS on May 4, 2003.
This dog ate our dining room table chairs and most of our windowsills,
and still does every once in a while. We persevered. He now
is a certified therapy dog and proudly shows his new vest. We have been
doing visitations to several nursing homes with a small group of dogs
and their handlers (like me). We have just joined Caring Hospice
for private visitations. He is just perfect in his job and everyone
loves him. He needs the hugs as much as his patients do. He
is a very loving dog. - G. Killeen

Lucky
Last year I volunteered to foster beagles
for Linda. The first two were very young and too active for
Muffin. Then Linda actually brought "Sarge" for me to foster.
(We changed his name to Lucky.) Lucky was so good. Didn't
bother Muffin when she was eating, never drank from her water dish and
was just the perfect gentleman towards her.
He loved to play with all of Muffin's toys
and he also loved being in the yard just watching the world go by.
I just fell in love with him and asked Linda if I could adopt him.
Never thought I would have two dogs!
He barks at everyone jogging or running
by. If they have a dog, he barks at them. If he is inside
he scratches on the window until they are out of sight. Lucky
just loves people to talk to him and pet him. All the kids stop
on the way home from school to talk to him. He loves sleeping on
my bed with me and usually under the covers. He is certainly a very lovable dog.
I started fostering him on July 18, 2004
and a month or so later adopted him.
They thought he was between 3-5 years old. So I made him 4 last
year. -E. Roecker

Mustang Sally
When I was adopted and
my new parents took me to their home in New York City, I wasn't quite
sure what to think. I'm originally from Tennessee and wasn't
used to all the sights and sounds of a big city. And I most
certainly wasn't used to asphalt and concrete. In fact, I gave
my new parents a hard time at first, making them find a suitable patch
of grass for me so I could do my business. Of course, we
eventually worked it all out - and now I'm all about the curb. Living
in the City isn't all that bad, especially for a social beagle like
me. Lots of other dogs live in my apartment building and we love
to play. My parents take me to the local dog runs and sometimes
to Central Park where I love to chase pigeons and hunt down any spare
morsel of food. We go on trips together to Pennsylvania and
Massachusetts, where I bark at deer and flush pheasant out from the
bushes. But my favorite thing of all is to give my parents lots
attention and kisses when they come home from a hard day at work.
I do all kinds of silly things to make them happy and laugh, like zoom
around the house and bounce off the furniture. And after a bit
of play and a good meal, the best way to end the day is with a long
snuggle on the couch. Ah, that's the life for me. - Sally

Muffin
Muffin was adopted from Linda at SOS
Beagles on May 21, 1994. My Mother and I went to Bordentown to
adopt a Beagle. Linda had a few Beagles to choose from, but when
we saw this little Beagle called "Mama Cass" we fell in love with her.
She had had puppies 7 months earlier and had nursed them all that
time. We changed her name to Muffin and she has been the best
little dog in the world. With all the toys I've gotten her, she
never played with any of them. When we had company she would go
behind the sofa or under my bed. That didn't last too long
though and now she loves people to talk to her. She cries when
she sees another dog or cat. We live on the corner so she lays
out on the grass and watches everyone go by. Just about everyone
that goes by knows her name and they all talk to her.
Now she is 13 years old and has a hard
time getting up and down the stairs. But her new little brother,
Lucky, keeps her active.
Muffin is my sweetheart and has such a
wonderful disposition. -adopted by E. Roecker
